動名詞は「過去に起きたこと、一般的・具体的・習慣的なこと」を表す。
「過去に起きたこと」を表す場合、動名詞はto不定詞に置き換えることはできない。
「一般的・具体的なこと」を表す用法では、両者の違いは明確ではない。
動名詞は、「過去に起きたことや、現在起きていること」を前提にして使うのに対し、to不定詞は「これから起きること」を仮定して使う。

文の主語や補語、動詞の目的語になっている動名詞は、to不定詞に置き換えることができる場合がある。
to不定詞は前置詞の目的語になれない。

動名詞は、to不定詞のように形容詞的用法や副詞的用法がない。

動名詞は前置詞の目的語になれる。
I have a strong objection to being treated like this.
objection to ~に対する反対、異議、異論
このtoの後に動名詞が来るのがすごく違和感があって、え?to不定詞なの?動名詞?どっちなの??と思ってた。
前置詞の目的語かどうかで判断すればいいのかな。
