自動詞と他動詞の違いについて、この前ChatGPTは

自動詞と他動詞の違いは、動詞が表す動作の対象が自分自身か他の人や物かという点にあります。

と言っていた。
つまり主語が自身に行う動作なのか、主語が他人や物に行う動作なのか、ということ。
ものすごく簡潔でわかりやすい。

動詞の次に物が来たら全部他動詞じゃん。
動詞の次が主語以外の人だったら全部他動詞じゃん。
めちゃくちゃ簡単じゃない？

この後、散々ChatGPTとやり取りしたけど、自動詞を簡単に見分けるにはどうしたらいいのか問題の「今のところの」解決案は

動詞の後に副詞か前置詞が来たら全部自動詞。
be動詞は自分のことにしか使わないので全部自動詞。

今まで自動詞・他動詞を見分けようと幾多の山を乗り越えてきたけれど、改めてキク英文法の解説を見返すと

動詞には目的語を取らない自動詞と、目的語を取る他動詞の2種類がある

と書いてある。

どれが目的語か補語か見分けられないから、自動詞も他動詞も見分けられなかったんだろうがあああ～！

という気持ち、今。

動詞＋副詞の固まりで1つの動詞のような働きをするものを句動詞という。
句動詞の多くは、自動詞と他動詞の両方の用法がある。

うわ、地獄かよ。
get on は固まりだなというのは分かる。
with を普通の前置詞だと思ってしまうと、自動詞にしか見えんわ。
これを他動詞だと見抜け...、ないよね。
巻末で紹介されているのを覚えるしかない？？

severalを2つにわけて、うまく言えるようになるまで、大きな声で大げさに発音する。

ChatGPTに文法が合ってるか聞いたら、文法は合っているが不自然な文だと添削された。

※おさるさんの動画を見返してみたら、項目ごとに自分が使いそうなシチュエーションの英文を作ることと言っていたので、やり直し。
